Color is not the finish. It is part of the story.

A grade can change the weight of a shadow. The temperature of a room. The distance between two faces. It can make an image feel immediate, nostalgic, uncomfortable, intimate, or entirely unfamiliar.

At Kettle Post, color grading is where those decisions become deliberate.

We are a color grading studio based in Hyderabad, India, working across cinema, commercials, broadcast, OTT, and digital platforms including YouTube.

We approach every project as its own visual language. Not every image needs to be pushed. Not every shadow needs to be opened. Not every skin tone needs to be perfected into something it was never meant to be.

The grade should serve the image.

We grade for story

Sometimes the image needs restraint. Sometimes it needs to be pushed until it becomes something else.

The work is knowing the difference.

We look at contrast, density, color relationships, skin, texture, highlights, and shadows not as isolated controls, but as parts of the same image. Every decision affects where the eye goes and, ultimately, how the story feels.

We are interested in images that hold up beyond the first impression.

A look can be striking. But a visual language needs to survive the entire film, campaign, episode, or body of work.

What we do

  • Creative color grading for feature films, short films, commercials, documentaries, music videos, branded content, and digital films.

  • Look development and visual language exploration from references, stills, or an idea.

  • Primary grading, contrast and density shaping, color balance, saturation, shot matching, and continuity.

  • Secondary color work, skin refinement, selective shaping, and controlled isolation of color.

  • Film emulation, grain, halation, bloom, texture, and other finishing treatments where they serve the image.

  • Color-managed workflows for cinema, broadcast, OTT, streaming, and digital delivery.

  • Review workflows designed around clear communication between the colorist, cinematographer, director, agency, and production team.

How we approach the image

Before we build a grade, we look at the footage.

Not just the camera.
Not just the codec.
Not just the technical specifications.

We look at what is happening inside the frame.

Where does the light come from? What should the audience notice first? What should remain quiet? Where should an image feel dense, and where should it breathe?

Then we build from there.

The technical process matters. Color management matters. Transform order matters. Working space matters. The way the image is handled before the look is applied can fundamentally change how that look behaves.

But technique is only useful when it supports intention.

The process serves the image. The image serves the story.

The work we like to do

We work particularly well with projects where the image has something to say.

Cinema and documentaries where atmosphere, continuity, and subtle shifts in tone carry narrative weight.

Commercials and branded films where the image needs to feel polished, precise, and consistent across multiple deliverables.

Music videos and stylized work where color can become a more expressive part of the visual identity.

OTT and streaming projects where consistency has to hold across scenes, episodes, formats, and viewing environments.

Digital films and YouTube content where a considered grade can give even a small production a stronger sense of identity.

Whether the approach is invisible or unmistakable, the goal remains the same:

Make the image feel like it belongs to the story.

That is what we look for at Kettle Post.
